News - Paul Weller Says Reuniting With Jam Member 'Wonderful Thing'

Paul Weller and the Jam's bass player Bruce Foxton have reunited, finally, and played together in the studio as Weller completes his new album 'Wake Up The Nation.'
The Modfather has revealed to NME that Foxton and himself have started to repair their friendship -- and the bassist has contributed to two album tracks.
Weller explains that it was similar experiences with loss last year, which helped get the pair talking again. He said: "It came about because we had both lost loved ones last year. He lost his wife at the early part of the year, and I lost my dad, and it opened up a bit of a dialogue, and it seemed like a nice thing to do at the time. In fact it was a wonderful thing."
Weller, who won the 'Best British Male' award at the Brits last year in response to his 2008 release '22 Dreams' -- has again collaborated with other artists. After previously working with Noel Gallagher and ex-Stone Rose Aziz Ibrahim, this time Weller has enlisted the help of My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields.
Two years ago Foxton toured with other original Jam member Rick Buckler, as 'From The Jam,' to coincide with the band's 30th anniversary and release of debut album 'In The City' -- causing a greater rift with ex-band leader Weller.
It is alleged that Weller and Buckler have not spoken in over 20 years – since they split in '82 when Weller dissolved the Jam to form the Style Council.
Weller is due to play a five-night residency at London's Royal Albert Hall from May 24 to 28. Spinner wonders if there'll be a mini-Jam live reunion with a Foxton guest appearance?
